Photo Fun and Scrapbooks

Thursday, April 26, 2012

I've been trying to learn some new things and get some practice on my photography.  I had the privilege at the end of last month of practicing at a wedding.  I'll post some of my favorites of the event.  It was a hard wedding to shoot for because the couple rarely took time to stop and look at the camera.  When they did finally pose (without looking at the camera) they only stood still for about a second, and no matter how many times or people told them to hold still they just couldn't.  I guess that is good practice though.  What could be more difficult then that?

I also did some fun shots around my house. There are not really any pretty places around here, but I did have fun editing the ones I did get, of course I also used my dog as a model in some.  Maybe someday I'll get to have more than a dog to photograph, but for now he's what I have.

This was before

And this is my fun edit after!  I enjoyed playing with this one.

I've been in a weird place this last month and really haven't had a heart do work on much of my scrap booking or photography.  I did manage to make a few new pages though, so I figured it was time to share.  Lately I'm using photography as a bit of therapy, but I've just gotten back into it, so I don't have many shots to share.  Most of my shots are bad shots, because I purposely changed settings and didn't choose "correct" one as a practice.  I wanted to see how it looks to choose a bad setting.  Here is what I've been up to this last month.  Enjoy.

Within the next few days I'll show some of  my pictures, even the wrong exposure ones.  Enjoy!

I've managed to get some sort of stomach bug today.  Not really what I needed, but between recovering and being sick, I've had a lot of time just sitting and messing around online.  I learned some new techniques on Photoshop elements and made a couple of pages.  I also had some fun with my hair and tried a new hairstyle that I've been wanting to.  I got lazy with the part, but other than that, it turned out well.  It will be a good and new style for my overly straight hair!  Take a look at how my night was spent.

I love the color of my hair, and for some reason this picture makes me remember that

I got lazy with my part, but this was just a practice run.

This is my favorite view.  It really brings out the falling layers.

Thanks to Teresabelle Designs for the backgound, layout and embellishiments

To distract myself today I finally finished a blanket I started almost a year ago.  I left simple steps to follow.  I did a twist on the no-sew blankets.  A friend and I were talking once about how to make a big one  We talked about tying a couple together.  This lead to the idea of making it like a quilt style and doing patches.  Since this was my first attempt I stuck with two fabrics, but hopefully next time my patches will have lots of colors and patterns.  Enjoy!

Step 1: Choose fabric and blanket size

Step 2: Cut top fabric into squares of your choosing based  on blanket size

Step 3: Cut strips for tying around edges of squares.  I did 1.5 inches.

Step 4: Tie strips together into proper size

Step 5: Cut backing fabric to size and cuts tying strips around edges to match top layer

Step 6: Enjoy the new blanket you created!

I also spent some time the last few days creating some cover banners for Facebook's new timeline.  Here is the one I choose for mine, and I also ended up making one for a friend.  She wanted to show off her kids in her cover.

I also made some collages for her kid's rooms.  I made them in a 12" X 12" format because that is easy to make smaller or larger for printing.

Got some new background pages for my digital scrap booking.  Here is what I have been busy with today.

Few days ago I took my dog out for a fun little photo shoot to play with my new camera.

From our trip to Las Vegas, the Bellagio Gardens.  They has some amazing stuff here.  I can't even begin to imagine the hours and hours it takes to complete this place.

I created a background page to use as a Christmas page, or even card.

I've been sick and not been able to spend too much time reading without feeling ill.  I have been unable to do much this month and was trying to find something else to do besides, blog, read, and watch TV, so I picked up digital scrap booking.  I am making a nice family calendar for gifts this year and really was excited with how much more I could do.  I am currently waiting on some pictures from other family members so I thought I would play around and start a personal scrapbook.  I decided a good place to start was to make some pages from my Vegas trip.  I would love your feed back on how these have turned out.

Please share links to examples of your work and places that help inspire ideas.  I've really been enjoying this and am finding it to be a lot more fun than I thought it would be.  I am not really a crafty person, but I think I may have a hidden ability I never knew about.

Good day to you all.  Hope to hear from you all soon!
